Job Title: NSS Engineer (CS Core Engineer)
Job Location: Dar es Salaam.
Purpose of the Job
The purpose of the O&M MSC-S/HLR/AUC and MGW Engineer is to Pro-actively perform daily, weekly and monthly duties to ensure network service availability.
Main functions of the Section
1. Perform routine maintenance procedures to ensure system mal-functionalities are captured and corrected before impacting service availability.
2. Attend to customer complaints;
3. Integration of various services and nodes to the existing platforms;
4. Attend to reported alarms and faults;
5. Define exchange data in MSC-S, MSC-S BC, GMSC and HLR necessary for voice calls setup ;
6. Ensure availability of proper documentation and validation of systems specifications and conformance to standards;
7. Managing and achieving KPIs and SLAs that impact on network operations and to ensure targets are met;
8. Preparation of Core network reports relating to network operational activities.
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Carrying out routine maintenance procedures and correcting mal-functionalities in MSS/HLR/AUC, MGW nodes before degradation of network availability and quality.
2. Fault Management and troubleshooting to resolve network problems in the shortest time possible and escalation of unresolved issues to next level of support or vendor.
3. Alarm monitoring, handling and resolution.
4. Configuration management: - e.g. Configure Signalling (for TDM, ATM and IP transport technologies), exchange data, route data, B-number analysis and SCCP configurations.
5. HLR subscriber database management.
6. Integration of new services into the network.
7. Creation and implementation of data transcripts for various work orders.
8. Working with network performance and planning teams in matters relating to network performance and implementation of network audits recommendations.
9. Configuration of statistical data and monitoring of Core network related statistics.
10. Prepare regular reports for Core network operational activities.
