Job Description: Associate of Buying Operations
As a member of the Buying Operations department at Jumia you will be part of a team that is
responsible for the procurement and for the development of the marketplace from an operational
point of view. Thus, you will work closely with sellers and suppliers with a view to constantly
improving your lead time and your out of stock rate. You will scale and develop your team as well
as design and implement processes. You will work at the crossroads of many departments of Jumia
and will play a central role.
Key Tasks
● Managing and securing new stock daily from large suite of vendors
● Interacting with vendor and educating them on vendor interface, stock updates and price
up dates
● Ensuring an optimal lead time by following up with vendors daily who have outstanding
sales to be executed.
● Managing team of interns who support large vendors
● KPIs: lead time, out of stock rate and non-conformity rate
● Being actively involved in the constant improvement of the team performances
● Constantly improving and developing new internal processes
● Coordinating with Jumia and AIG Express
A successful candidate will fulfil the following requirements
● Proactive, dynamic and result driven
● First experience in procurement is a plus
● Strong communication skills, including fluency in English and Kiswahili
● Capacity to think, challenge and improve processes
● Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced and competitive environment.
● Degree in sales and/or Logistics-Supply chain
● High level of comfort with IT, including having experience in many systems and HTML
