Fleet Manager Job Description and Profile

The job of the fleet manager entails the management of overall operation of a company with  light and heavy fleet of vehicles. He likewise performs related tasks and duties when the situation warrants it.
Automobile fleet maintenance manager duties and responsibilities
Planning and scheduling maintenance and repair of automobile fleet
Prepare fleet maintenance budgets and estimates
Responsible on reports the cost of each operation and the overall cost.
Examining vehicles for requirement of repairs and servicing in partnership with Local Dealer
Allotting work to technicians and Drivers link with the schedule
Ensuring that the repair and maintenance works are being done as per quality standards
Hiring or firing drivers, and technicians
Take up training of drivers and technicians in the company in order to upgrade their skills and knowledge
Evaluate and examine completed works
Ensure that drivers are certified
Install all necessary safety measures with regard to automobiles and maintenance works
Following Tracking system, set up, maintenance and reports
Following of claims with Insurer and coordinate repairs

Automobile fleet maintenance manager skills and specifications
Outstanding knowledge about automobile maintenance and repair procedures
Excellent management and organization skills
Outstanding communication skills
Outstanding observation and analytical abilities
Ability to motivate drivers to drive according to standards
A sound knowledge about safety measures in the vehicle and during maintenance works
Excellent computer skills
Candidate must posses a can do positive attitude.
Will be dealing with a multitude of personalities so strong communication skills are very important.
Skills include time management and ability to adjust in a moments notice
Analyze opportunities and problem solving skills is also a must have in this position
Confident and able to stand behind decisions


Education and Qualifications

Advance Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree
4-5 years of automotive experience in a managerial capacity.
2-3 years of supervisory experience in fleet operations and repair and maintenance of vehicles.
