General Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES
Managing all business operations of Water/ Juice processing Facility. He/ She will be responsible for overseeing Finance, Production, Sales, Purchasing and HR.

Principle Duties

• He/ She will be required to plan, implement, and update the manufacture of Fruit Juices and Bottled Water within the constraints of the company’s food safety management system to provide products that, according to their intended use, are safe for the consumer and are produced within the constraints of the company’s budgets.

• Reporting to the Managing Director the role will be responsible for directing, leading and effectively utilising the operations management team towards achieving maximum efficiency in the operation of the site whilst proactively searching for ways and means to improve site performance, with full responsibility for the site to achieve the agreed Financial, Production, Food Safety Standards, H&S service, cost, labour and material variance targets.

• Oversee the completion of Production plans on a weekly and monthly basis to enable Managers and logistics personnel to plan requirements of production lines and packaging needs.

• In conjunction with the Managing Director complete an annual production plan.

• In conjunction with the Finance Manager assist in preparing an annual budget for the plant along with weekly and monthly Financial control reports.

• Establish an effective Food Safety policy for the company and see that the policy is complied with throughout all organizational levels continually evaluating the effectiveness of the Food Safety Policy and ensure that any necessary changes are made.

• The general manager is required to implement the company’s policies and procedures. He/ She  must ensure that the managers and supervisors implement and support those policies, it will be his/ her responsibility to ensure the policies and procedures evolve with the company, updating them as necessary.

1. Achieves Company Targets
Number of Cases Produced Daily/Weekly within budgeted targets
Planned production within budgeted waste levels at each process stage

2. Achieves Labour Cost Objectives
Achieves targeted labour cost/Kg on specific area
Able to maintain crewing level to desired budgeted level

3. Achieves Quality Targets

4. Completes Documentation/Reports
Ensures completion of documents/reports on time, daily/weekly/monthly

5. Achieves Financial Control of all sectors

6. Maintains Factory Cleanliness
Ensures that the factory is kept to a high standard of cleanliness at all times

7. Delegation and Follow up
Communication with Managers and Supervisors
Effective delegation of work

8. Personal Development
Must demonstrate Initiative, drive and ambition

Key Competencies
• Should have a minimum of three - five years management experience as well as a bachelors or masters degree in a related field of study.

• The position will require a combination of skills, should have superior leadership skills, work well with a team and have the ability to work independently with little or no supervision.

• Need to demonstrate superior decision-making, problem-solving and conflict-management abilities.

• Must also be able to work with all levels of management and be able to demonstrate exceptional coaching skills with the ability to motivate by influencing and leading

• Previous Operations or Financial management experience will be required.

• Knowledge of the food industry is desirable but not essential.

• Knowledge of Health and Safety guidelines would be advantageous
