PURPOSE AND SCOPE
Exploration Manager will be responsible for Geological geophysical and geochemical activities, He/she has to carryout geological mapping.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures preparation of all geological and geophysical programs;
  • Ensures plans and budgets for the geological and geophysical projects are prepared;
  • Ensures preparation of promotional materials and documents for meeting with international oil companies for possible joint ventures;
  • Monitors exploration companies which have agreements with TPDC;
  • Ensures training needs falling under the geological and geophysical units are met;
  • Assists the tender Board where appropriate in the selection of contractors and service companies for petroleum exploration projects;
  • Ensures directorate's participation in joint venture and production sharin9 agreement negotiations;
  • Evaluates results and presents them to the Director of Upstream Operations;
  • Ensures safety and efficiency in petroleum exploration programs in compliance with international acceptable oilfield practice;
  • Plans and maintains petroleum exploration data bank;
  • Advises the Director of Exploration, Production and Technical Services on the selection of geophysical consultants, acquisition contractors, processing contractors and contractors for borehole surveys;
  • Institutes quality control of geophysical data acquisition including gravity, magnetic and seismic data processing;
  • Organizes a processing center for geophysical data and the selection of companies for the computerized analysis of geophysical data;
  • Ensures the structural and geological interpretation of data and advises the Director of Upstream Operations on attractive prospects and drilling locations;
  • Organizes data acquisition by employment of suitable geophysical instrumentation and by use of appropriate field procedures and routines;
  • Ensure that contractors and consultants engaged in geophysical data acquisition meets the Corporation's requirements on quality, safety to personnel and environmental protection;
  • Supervises preparation of exploration programs, plans and strategies both short-and-Iong terms;
  • Prepares project cost estimates and budgets;
  • Ensures the department is properly equipped with geophysical instruments and equipment that are properly maintained;
  • Liaises with the Director of Finance and Administration to ensure that Joint Venture and Production Sharing Agreements are monitored technically and financially through audit programs;
  • Liaises with exploration manager and manager of international operations to support logistics in petroleum exploration, development and production operations;
  • Liaises with Production manager in undertaking exploration drilling activities;
  • Undertakes any other related duties as may be assigned by superiors from time to time.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Holder of a M.Sc. Degree in Petroleum Geosciences or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution. A holder of PhD degree in the relevant academic field will be of added advantage.

WORKING EXPERIENCE
Atleast 10 years' experience of which 3 years must be at senior level. Proven high administrative and managerial ability in the oil industry and knowledge of international oil business is essential.

AGE LIMIT
Not more than 45 years for those who do not contribute to any pension fund.

REMUNERATION
As per TPDC Salary Scale

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
The terms of employment for General Manager GASCO and General Manager COPEC, shall be contractual for a term of 5 years, renewable upon satisfactory performance.
The terms of employment shall be unspecified term contract for the post other than General Managers.
