PURPOSE: Conduct repair and preventative maintenance to instrumentation and process control
systems of the Process Plant to achieve production targets. Ensure compliance with safety,
environment and security standards.
Reports to: Engineering Foreman
KEY RESULT AREAS/ ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Ensure total adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Policies of SMCL-NLGM, as well as other policies, procedures and guidelines.
Carry out instrumentation repair and preventative maintenance to maintain Process Plant equipment in a safe and efficient manner to achieve production and cost targets.
Maintain and troubleshoot the Process Plant process control system, including PLC’s, Scada and process control network.
Ensure that instrumentation maintenance practices result in maximum mill availability. Meeting or exceeding planned mill availability is a Key Performance Indicator.
Complete assigned work in a timely manner with minimum supervision and to an internationally acceptable standard.
Keep workplace in a safe working condition and carry out instrumentation work in a safe, professional and efficient manner.
Provide accurate and timely feedback to Electrical Supervisor on conditions that may affect functionality of equipment.
Carry out troubleshooting, fault finding and corrective maintenance in order to solve unplanned equipment unavailability events.
Ensure Supervisors and all stakeholders are kept informed on equipment availability status.
Ensure the Oracle maintenance management system is utilised as required by the Electrical Supervisor.
Actively participate in training activities to gain new skills, develop full potential and assume increasing accountability.
Under the direction of the Electrical Supervisor, provide appropriate on-the-job training and coaching to less experience personnel.
Follow Safe Work Procedures and other maintenance procedures.
Be proactive in all aspects of Process Plant security to prevent and eliminate theft and fraud.
Attend regular safety meetings.
Ensure no disruption to work due to industrial relations issues.
Carry out other duties as assigned by the Foreman or Resident Engineer.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Trade qualified - instrumentation discipline.
Experience: 4 years practical work experience in instrumentation maintenance.
Previous maintenance experience in industrialized plant is beneficial.
Skills: Practical skills in maintenance practices and instrumentation knowledge.
