Unilever Tea Tanzania Limited is a plantation company operating under Unilever Tea, East Africa (UTEA). UTTL employs over 5,500 employees whose safety and security are very important to the business.
We are currently looking to hire Environmental Compliance Manager for our Tanzania business. This role will be both office and field based and requires candidates with knowledge for the job. If you are looking for a career in Unilever then you are the person we are looking for.

JOB LOCATION: Mufindi

Business Context and Main Purpose of the Job
Ensure organization compliance with environmental regulations in areas such as air quality, waste, clean water, and pollution. Adherence to Unilever sustainable living Plan

Main Accountabilities
1. Actively manage environmental programmes and the environmental compliance function for Unilever Tea Tanzania Ltd
2. Oversee the collection, interpretation and reporting of data necessary for accurate and timely environmental reporting to management and regulatory agencies.
3. Provide leadership by example and as a mentor facilitate the development, expertise and effectiveness of environmental staff.
4. Develop and maintain a clear and open line of communication between environment and operations personnel as well as with all regulatory authorities both at local and national level.
5. Provide environmental expertise to UTT management, communicate clearly on environmental requirements and enhance environmental awareness of all staff.
6. Ensure compliance to all legislation and to company policies, procedures and objectives and ensure that UTT stays in good stead, maintaining its Rain Forest Alliance certificate.
7. Ensure environmental compliance on local and International Level
8. Participate in and review significant incident investigations and assist with the preparation and completion of action plans.
9. Identify efficiencies and drive continuous improvement.
10. Manage work lands, water body delineation
11. Implement, promote and keep up to date the Environmental Management System to manage, mitigate and fully address environmental responsibility in Unilever Sustainable Living Plan commitment.
12. Maintain a watching brief on latest industry developments in good practice environmental management and national legislation, policies and plans which affect Unilever Tea Tanzania’s activities.
13. Conduct robust planning with all site departments to ensure integration of environmental obligations and closure planning into sustainability of the business and budget cycles.
14. Provide project management of environmental consultants undertaking projects on site.

 All Units, Logistics, Drivers, Finance, HRBP, Donors if any, Ministry of Natural resources and Tourism, National Environment Management Council and any other relevant stakeholders

 Communication skills
 Interpersonal skills
 Information Management
 Application and Exploitation of IT
 Accounting (basic appreciation)
 Master’s degree in Environment, Human Ecology will be an added advantage.
 Experience working in Tanzania on Environmental Social Impact Assessment and Working knowledge on use of GPS&GIS
